Asia Oceania Final Qualifying for junior team competitions underway
Journeys towards junior team glory are underway and the identities of the first batch of nations to reach the 2022 Junior Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas Finals will be known by Saturday.
Final qualifying for the Asia Oceania region is currently underway in New Delhi with 15 nations in contention for a place at the Finals, which take place 1-6 November, although only three will progress.
It is a bumper period for junior team competition action in the Indian capital as immediately following final qualifying for Junior Billie Jean King Cup is final qualifying for Junior Davis Cup with three nations once again progressing.
Junior Billie Jean King Cup and Junior Davis Cup – the premier team competitions in the 16-and-under age category – are key pillars of the ITF player pathway and within the development of aspiring players.
Over the years, some of the world’s best have honed their skills in these tournaments. In recent times, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek, Carlos Alcaraz, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Coco Gauff, Marketa Vondrousova and Denis Shapovalov have all helped their nations to glory.
From 18 April, final qualifying from Asia Oceania gets underway for the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals, which will once again be hosted in Prostejov, Czech Republic from 1-6 August. First up will be the girls and four teams will progress to the 14-and-under team finale.
A week later, the boys will take centre stage as a further three teams will bid to secure their place at the Finals and take the next step in their quest to lift silverware and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Kei Nishikori, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Justine Henin, Amelie Mauresmo and Kristina Mladenovic are just a few of the names to have competed at the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals. In short, those who make it this year will be in good company.

The Asia Oceania region is the first to stage its final qualifying. The next regional event is the North, Central America & Caribbean Final Qualifying in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico from 5-7 May.
