Asia Oceania nations confirm attendance at junior team finals

The scent of glory is within the nostrils of nations from Asia Oceania after they became the first to qualify for the 2022 finals of the ITF’s premier junior team competitions.

Over the past four weeks, final qualifying for the Junior Billie Jean King Cup and Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Finals and the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals has been taking place in New Delhi, India.

During that time, Australia, Thailand and Japan confirmed their attendance at the Junior Billie Jean King Cup Finals, while India, Japan and Australia won through to the Junior Davis Cup Finals.

Antalya in Turkey and the Club Maga Saray Tennis Academy will host the Junior Billie Jean King Cup and Junior Davis Cup Finals for the second successive year, with the extravaganza taking place from 1-6 November.

Junior Billie Jean King Cup and Junior Davis Cup are the premier team competitions in the 16-and-under age category and key pillars of the ITF player pathway and within the development of aspiring players.

Over the years, some of the world’s best have honed their skills in these tournaments. In recent times, world No. 1 Iga SwiatekCarlos AlcarazFelix Auger-AliassimeCoco GauffMarketa Vondrousova and Denis Shapovalov have all helped their nations to glory.

Meanwhile, the line-up of teams contesting the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals, which will once again be held in Prostejov in Czech Republic, became clearer following its final qualifying event.

Progressing to the 14-and-under team finale are Korea, Rep., Japan and Kazakhstan in the boys’ competition and Japan, Australia, Korea, Rep. and India in the girls’ draw. The finals in Prostejov will take place from 1-6 August.

Novak Djokovic, Rafael NadalKei Nishikori, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Justine Henin, Amelie Mauresmo and Kristina Mladenovic are just a few of the names to have competed at the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals. The players of the qualified nations are certainly in good company.

The next regional event is the North, Central America & Caribbean Final Qualifying in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico from 5-7 May.
