Boulter starts 2023 'with a bang' after netting W60 Canberra title
Katie Boulter kicked off the 2023 season “with a bang” after defeating fellow Brit Jodie Burrage in the final at W60 Canberra for her seventh professional singles title and third at W60 level.
The 26-year-old (who also overcame compatriot Heather Watson in the quarter-finals), won 3-6 6-3 6-2 to record her second competitive win over Burrage – five-and-a-half-years after their first at the WTA event in Birmingham.
As a result of her victory, Boulter becomes the British No. 3, climbing 12 places to No. 124 in the world (ahead of No. 128 Burrage).

Boulter’s last three titles have come at W60 level, with the Canberra title adding to her victories at W60 Grenoble in 2022 and W60 Fukuoka in 2018.
Meanwhile, former world No. 29 Kateryna Bondarenko won the inaugural W40-level event on the ITF World Tennis Tour, defeating Valeria Savinykh 6-2 6-3 for her sixth ITF singles crown.
The 36-year-old Ukrainian’s triumph was her first tournament win since she claimed the WTA title in Tashkent in 2017.
There were also titles for Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin and American Jamie Loeb, who won at W25 Monastir and W25 Malibu, respectively.
