Bouzas Maneiro claims first pro singles title at W15 Cairo
Eighteen-year-old Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro collected her first professional singles title at W15 Cairo on Sunday.
The teenager defeated Slovak Chantal Skamlova 2-6 7-5 6-3 in the final – a month after finishing as runner-up in her first professional final on the ITF World Tennis Tour on home soil at W15 Madrid.
Bouzas Maneiro, who won seven junior titles and reached a high of No. 42 in the ITF junior rankings, now sits at a career-high No. 855 in the WTA rankings.
Two other women’s tournaments took place on the ITF World Tennis Tour last week, with France’s Salma Djoubri winning at W15 Monastir in Tunisia, and Tamara Curovic winning the title at W15 Antalya in Turkey.
Frenchwoman Djoubri, also 18, collected her second pro title to add to her win at W15 Haren in 2019, while 26-year-old Serb Curovic (a former junior world No. 11) won her first title in eight years – and her third overall.
Djoubri overcame India’s Zeel Desai 6-4 3-6 6-2 in Monastir, while Curovic defeated Italian Aurora Zantendeschi 7-5 7-6(4) in the title decider in Antalya.
