The International Tennis Federation has revealed the venues and dates for the 2023 Davis Cup Junior Finals and Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Junior Finals.

Both events will be played on outdoor red clay courts at two venues in the historic city of Córdoba and form part of a wider agreement between the ITF and region of Andalusia, which will also see the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals take place in Seville (7-12 November) and the Davis Cup Final 8 (21-26 November) in Malaga.

The Davis Cup Junior Finals will take place from 30 October to 5 November and the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Junior Finals take place 6-12 November – the same week as the finals of the women’s World Cup of Tennis in Seville. Both events will be played at the Open Arena, Córdoba and the Real Aeroclub de Córdoba.

16 boys teams and 16 girls teams will compete in the Finals, with Spain automatically qualifying as the host nation. Finalist teams will play in round robin groups for the first three days of competition. Following a planned day off, teams will then compete in three further ties for the final three days to determine final positions from 1st to 16th. All teams will compete in six ties during the seven days.

Brazil are the current Davis Cup Juniors Champions, having overcome the United States in last year’s final in Antalya, Türkiye, thanks to victories from João Fonseca and Gustavo Ribeiro de Almeida.

In the Billie Jean King Cup Juniors event, it will be the United States who will defend their title having been inspired to victory over Czechia in Antalya by Valerie Glozman and Clervie Ngounoue.

Previous winning teams have featured players who have gone on to excel at the top of the game including Rafael Nadal (Spain, 2002), Ashleigh Barty (Australia, 2011), Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov (Canada, 2015), Iga Swiatek (Poland, 2016), Carlos Alcaraz (Spain, 2018) and Coco Gauff (USA, 2018).

Further nations will qualify following the completion of the following qualifying events:

• African Qualifying Event from 19-23 July 2023 – two teams for Billie Jean King Cup Juniors, and one team for the Davis Cup Juniors.
• European Qualifying Event (Tennis Europe Summer Cup Finals) from 7-9 August 2023 – five teams for each event
• South American Qualifying Event from 14-19 August 2023 – three teams for each event

The roll call of previous champions includes players who have gone on to great success both individually and when representing their nations. In Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov, we have two current Davis Cup champions who won the Juniors title just seven years previous – so I hope theirs and many other top players’ journeys will serve as inspiration for the boys and girls playing in Córdoba this year. We are excited to be working with the region of Andalusia to deliver these events in Córdoba, as well as the Billie Jean King Cup Final in Seville and the Davis Cup Final 8 in Malaga in November.”

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Arturo Bernal, welcomed the confirmation of the dates for the events in Córdoba. He said: “Along with Seville and Malaga, we are proud that Córdoba is going to have the eyes of all tennis fans worldwide. That brings a lot of responsibility, but also a chance to promote the destination and the benefits that these sporting events will generate in our land.”

The Mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido, said: “The holding of this international tournament is magnificent news because it represents a step forward for Córdoba in holding international events, and adds to the city's tennis tradition since it hosted the Davis Cup semifinals in 2011. It also contributes to projecting Córdoba as a city that hosts major international events. I thank the ITF for having chosen Córdoba to host this tournament where the most promising international players will compete.”
