Former junior world No. 1 Gabriel Debru of France claimed his first professional title on the ITF World Tennis Tour after conquering all before him at M15 Gubbio.

Debru, who was crowned Roland Garros boy’s champion in 2022, defeated home favourite Federico Arnaboldi 6-4 3-6 6-3 in the final as the 17-year-old took a significant step in his tennis development.

The ITF World Tennis Tour is the main artery to the ATP and WTA Tours and Debru is the latest in a long line of players to emerge from junior tennis and chalk up their maiden victory within the professional ranks.

Indeed, Debru enjoyed an impressive junior career and as well as topping the podium at Roland Garros, the teenager represented France at the 2021 Davis Cup Juniors Finals where his nation finished as the runners-up.

He is now very much a fixture on the ITF World Tennis Tour Men’s, having made his professional debut at M15 Grenoble in February 2021, and after a couple of semi-final appearances in recent months now has his first title.

Debru is also ranked a career-high No. 396 in the ATP rankings – one to keep an eye on.
