French teenager Ksenia Efremova has entered the new year on a significant high after making ITF World Tennis Tour history by claiming victory at W15 Monastir.

The 14-year-old became the youngest female winner of an ITF World Tennis Tour title in 20 years after navigating qualifying and conquering all before her at the Tunisian event.

Efremova was in sublime form and won all seven of her matches in straight sets, including her showdown with Germany’s Selina Dal in the final as she claimed the biggest title of her fledgling career.

Victory means Efremova is the youngest Frenchwoman in history to top the podium at an ITF World Tennis Tour event and is placed seventh on the all-time list of the youngest winners.

While placed seventh, she is the fifth youngest woman to win an ITF World Tennis Tour title behind Bulgaria Sesil Karatantcheva, Alisa Kleybanova, Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland and Czechia’s Nicole Vaidisova.

Karatantcheva, Kleybanova, Bacsinszky and Vaidisova all claimed ITF World Tennis Tour titles aged 14 in 2003.
