Magdalena Frech enjoyed the perfect preparation for next week’s season-ending Billie Jean King Cup Finals after claiming her first title in over two years on the ITF World Tennis Tour at W100 Les Franqueses del Valles.

The 25-year-old Pole, who will join Magda Linette, Katarzyna Kawa and Weronika Falkowska in Dawid Celt’s side for the women’s World Cup of Tennis in Seville from 7 November, has found form at the perfect time ahead of Poland’s clashes with Canada and hosts Spain next week.

Frech defeated former Roland Garros finalist Sara Errani 7-5 4-6 6-4 at the Spanish hard-court event to claim her seventh professional singles crown – the second biggest of her career after her triumph at the WTA 125 event in Concord in August 2021.

She ended a run of nine first round defeats in her past 12 tournaments as a result of her run last week. It was also the first time she has recorded back-to-back match-wins in a tournament main draw since she reached the quarter-finals at the WTA event in Birmingham in July.

Frech is projected to rise to a career-high ranking of No. 63 when the new WTA rankings are released.

There were also significant wins over the weekend on the ITF World Tennis Tour for France's Jessika Ponchet, who won her biggest title yet at W80 Poitiers and Emma Navarro, who continued her rapid rise by winning her fourth title of the year at W80 Tyler.

Navarro stated her season at No. 149 and is making a late push towards the world's top 40.

There were also wins for Astra Sharma at W60 Playford, Marina Stakusic at W60 Toronto and Daris Snigur at W60 Glasgow.
