Gauff, Fritz set to lead Team USA at Paris 2024 Olympics
Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz are set to lead the line for USA at the Paris 2024 Olympic Tennis Event, following the USTA’s team announcement on Thursday.
The pair are two of six-first time Olympians named among the 10-strong American team for the Games on 27 July – 4 August.
The women’s team sees world No. 2 Gauff joined by No. 5 Jessica Pegula, No. 11 Danielle Collins, No. 17 Emma Navarro for singles, and doubles world No. 11 Desirae Krawczyk.
Gauff and Pegula (the 2022 Roland Garros doubles finalists) will resume their fruitful partnership for the doubles event, while Collins and Krawczyk will combine as the second doubles team for the US women - led by former Billie Jean King Cup captain Kathy Rinaldi.
The men’s team, coached by London 2012 gold medallist and current Davis Cup captain Bob Bryan, sees world No. 12 Fritz, No. 13 Tommy Paul, No. 55 Chris Eubanks and No. 53 Marcos Giron selected to play singles, with world doubles No. 6 Rajeev Ram and No. 15 Austin Krajicek set to pair up.
Fritz and Paul will also combine in the men’s doubles.
The Americans will also be able to nominate one mixed doubles team from their 10-player field for the Games, with the announcement of that pair due to follow at a later date.
Ram is the most experienced member of the US team and is set to feature at his third Olympic Tennis Event, having won mixed doubles silver alongside Venus Williams at Rio 2016.
