Get to know Rodrigo Pacheco
Mexico’s Rodrigo Pacheco has enjoyed a successful season and remains firmly in the race to finish 2023 as the year-end junior world No. 1.
It is a position he occupied in May, becoming the first player from Mexico and the wider COTEEC (Central American and Caribbean Tennis Confederation) to reach the junior world No. 1 spot since the rankings were combined in 2004.
That followed his triumph at J500 Milan – one of the most prestigious junior tournaments on the calendar – while he has since claimed his first professional title-win after topping the podium at M15 Belem in August.
This week is a big one for the 18-year-old as he enters J500 Merida, which gets underway today, as the highest-ranked boy, top seed and defending champion. Merida is also Pacheco’s birthplace and a tournament which means a great deal to the highly-rated teenager.
