Ireland to make history and host first ITF Masters Tour events
For the first time in the history of the ITF Masters Tour, Ireland is set to host, with two events set to take place in the coming months.
The MT200 - Waterford, taking place between 18-20 August, and the MT200 - Cork, taking place between 1-3 September, represent the inaugural staging of ITF Masters tournaments in Ireland. Although both tournaments will only be open to Irish nationals for the 2023 editions, the aim for 2024 is for Ireland to open entries to players from across the world.
Taking place at the scenic St. Anne's Tennis Club, Waterford, the MT200 - Waterford is open to those aged 30-50, singles and doubles. St. Anne's Tennis Club, which officially opened in 1955, but purportedly has a history stretching back to the nineteenth century, boasts an impressive nine floodlit hard courts, and won the prestigious Supreme Award for the overall best club in Ireland in 2007.
The MT200 - Cork will host the the 55-85 Irish National Closed Championships. Hosted by the stunning Sunday Well Boating & Tennis Club, which is located in the heart of Cork City and was founded in 1899, the tournament promises to offer excellent facilities to players and spectators alike.
