ITF announces Paris 2024 Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Event entry list
The complete entry list for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Event has been confirmed today by the International Tennis Federation, event organisers on behalf of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
The Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Event will be held on clay at Roland Garros from Friday 30 August to Saturday 7 September. There will be 10 match courts and 6 practice courts, including the 15,000-capacity Court Philippe Chatrier and 10,000-capacity Court Suzanne Lenglen. Both courts have retractable roofs that will be in use if necessary.
A total of 28 nations will be represented at the Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Event, with 96 players competing across six events (men’s, women’s and quad singles and doubles).
There will be 48 athletes in the men’s category, 32 in the women’s category, and 16 in the quad category.
With three-time men’s singles gold medallist Shingo Kunieda and two-time quad singles gold medallist Dylan Alcott both having retired since the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, just two players in the field for Paris 2024 have won gold in singles at the Paralympics: Rio 2016 men’s singles champion Gordon Reid and Tokyo 2020 women’s singles champion Diede de Groot.
Great Britain’s Alfie Hewett and Japan’s Tokito Oda will lead the contenders for medals in the men’s singles field, while Japan’s Yui Kamiji and Netherlands’ Aniek van Koot are among De Groot’s challengers in the women’s singles. In the quad event, the Dutch duo of Sam Schroder and Niels Vink (silver and bronze medallists, respectively, at Tokyo 2020) will be among the medal favourites, alongside Israel’s Guy Sasson, who won his first Grand Slam singles title at Roland Garros this year.

As per the ITF Qualification System, all players must be in good standing with their National Association and comply with all IPC and ITF eligibility rules.
Players must have fulfilled the minimum participation requirement in ITF Wheelchair World Team Cup competitions, by being part of the final nominated team, and present at the event, on a minimum of two occasions during the Paralympic Cycle, provided that one of those occasions was in either 2023 or 2024.
Nations with athletes who did not meet the above criteria were able to apply to the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee for exemptions for those athletes.
The ITF Wheelchair Tennis Singles World Rankings of 15 July are used for entry. Players must be accepted into the singles events to be eligible for the doubles events. In each singles draw, there are a number of Bipartite Commission Invitation Places, which are awarded on a discretionary basis by the International Paralympic Committee and the ITF.

The draws for the Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Event will be held on site at Roland Garros on Tuesday 27 August at 11:00 local time (09:00 GMT).
ITF President David Haggerty said: “The Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Event always makes for exhilarating viewing and plays a huge role in growing the sport around the world. Many of the players confirmed today are looking to enhance their already fantastic Paralympic records while for others, this will be their first experience of representing their nations on the world stage. That combination of youth, experience, passion and raw talent will create an incredible spectacle later this month."
