ITF, BJK Cup and Davis Cup join forces to support Spain flood relief

05 Nov 2024

The International Tennis Federation (ITF), Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge (BJK Cup) and Davis Cup express their deepest sympathy to the victims and support for the communities and families affected by the devastating floods in Spain and its regions.

In a show of solidarity, both tournaments are supporting the relief and recovery efforts and calling for donations to the Spanish Red Cross, Cruz Roja. Tournament Directors Conchita Martinez, BJK Cup, and Feliciano Lopez, Davis Cup, voiced their support on behalf of both competitions and launched an appeal to the global tennis community.

“Our hearts go out to the communities and families in Spain affected by the recent severe flooding. The BJK Cup and Davis Cup are coming together to support the relief and recovery efforts. Together with the International Tennis Federation, we are donating to the Cruz Roja, and we encourage all our fans and followers to contribute as well. Your donations will help provide essential aid and support on the ground to those most in need. Together, we can make a difference.

“Please donate today to the Cruz Roja and assist in the recovery efforts by visiting Cruzroja.es

David Haggerty, President of the ITF, underscored the urgency of the appeal: “This is a humanitarian crisis and the ITF supports Cruz Roja in their mission to aid those affected by this disaster in Spain. Tennis is more than a sport – it’s a global family and we have close connections with Valencia and its communities which have been the hardest hit. We urge everyone to extend their support in any way they can by donating today through the link below.”
