ITF Fantasy Champion of Champions nears conclusion

20 Apr 2020

The ITF Fantasy Champion of Champions tournament is nearing its conclusion – and as ever it will be you, the fans, who will have the choice of which all-time great you will pick as your overall champion.

The 36 players who began the draw – that is, all 36 ITF men’s or women’s singles world champions since the award was first handed out in 1978 – were whittled down to the last eight by Wednesday 23 April, with thousands of fans having already voted for their favourite players to progress in the competition.

The quarterfinals in the top half of the draw see an all-American clash between Serena Williams and Pete Sampras, and Great Britain's Andy Murray (who scored an upset victory over Rafael Nadal in the second round) taking on Chris Evert.

The two ties in the bottom half see two greats of the men's game - both still playing - up against two all-time legends of the women's game, as Roger Federer faces Martina Navratilova and Novak Djokovic up against Steffi Graf.

As before, remember that this is an unofficial and inconsequential fantasy tournament. You can of course vote based on a player’s on-court performances… but you can also vote based on their sense of humour, dress sense, or even whose social media profile you prefer – it really is up to you!

Voting is now taking place on the ITF Tennis Twitter page, with polls will be open until one hour before the next set of matches. The updated drawsheet published will continue to be published each day. Follow along and get involved using the hashtag #ITFChampionOfChampions.
