ITF President David Haggerty elected IOC Member
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) President, David Haggerty has today been elected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the 135th IOC Session in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Haggerty was sworn in as a member at the session, reciting the Olympic Oath alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Japanese Olympic Committee President Yasuhiro Yamashita. He will continue to serve on the IOC Athletes Entourage Committee to which he was appointed in 2016.
David Haggerty said, “It is a great privilege to become an IOC member, I am truly honoured. As I said when nominated, this is an acknowledgement of the ITF Board, Committees, Regional and National Associations, and staff who work tirelessly to grow the game. I look forward to working with all other members to represent and promote the Olympic values and to continue the long and meaningful relationship between tennis and the Olympic and Paralympic movement.”
IOC President Thomas Bach said: “Congratulations to our three new colleagues on their election. The IOC can now count on the valuable advice of these experienced personalities.”
