Ivo Kaderka re-elected president of Tennis Europe

05 Oct 2021

Czech Tennis Association president Ivo Kaderka has been re-elected president of Tennis Europe, where he will serve alongside a new-look board of management until 2024.

The election, which took place at the 48th Tennis Europe AGM in Luxembourg, saw representatives from Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Turkey selected to join Kaderka on the board after he defeated Henrik Thorsøe Pedersen of Denmark in the second round of voting by 52 votes to 33. His 61.5% share of the votes was the largest election success since 2008.

“There is no east or west, we are one single European tennis family with a bright future,” Kaderka said during his acceptance speech. “This new board is full of strong, knowledgeable and experienced members and I am absolutely sure that they will help me to achieve our goals for tennis in Europe.”

ITF President David Haggerty, Executive Director of Tennis Development Luca Santilli and ITF Development Officer for Europe Vitor Cabral were in attendance in Luxembourg, alongside 113 delegates representing 49 of the 50 nations from across Europe. Santilli and Cabral participated in a special Development Workshop with Tier 1 nations ahead of the meeting, while Haggerty updated the delegates on the ITF’s strategic priorities.

“The ITF loves working with Tennis Europe,” ITF President Haggerty said. “It’s our largest region, with 50% of the voting nations within the ITF coming from Europe. The number of junior and senior and World Tennis Tour tournaments that Tennis Europe hosts are really important to the ITF.”

A record 21 candidates stood for election to one of the eight positions on the Tennis Europe board. Among the successfully elected members is France’s Florence Alix-Gravellier, former wheelchair tennis world No. 2, Paralympic bronze medallist and two-time Australian Open wheelchair doubles champion.
