Lorne Main received the first ever award for Outstanding Services to Seniors Tennis at the ITF World Champions Dinner in Pavillon D'Armenonville in Paris during the French Open.

The Canadian, now aged 81, is the most successful player in the 54-year history of the seniors circuit and received his award from ITF president Francesco Ricci Bitti. Main was honoured alongside the other 10 ITF World Champions including Novak Djokovic and Petra Kvitova.

Main competed at the US Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon and represented Canada in Davis Cup in the 1950s. He started playing Seniors tennis in 1986, winning the Men’s 55 singles, and won his first team title for Canada a year later. In 1990, he captured the first of his 13 doubles titles, teaming with compatriot Ken Sinclair, his partner for 12 of those victories.

On four occasions Main has won the singles, doubles and team championships in the same year, an unrivalled achievement which showcases his extraordinary fitness and skill.
