She only began her season in June, but Priska Nugroho has still found time to make her mark on the ITF World Tennis Tour in 2022.

The 19-year-old Indonesian collected her fifth ITF singles title of the year on Sunday after defeating Finland’s Anastasia Kulikova 6-4 6-2 in the title match at W25 Solapur in India.

The triumph was her second at W25 level, following victory on Australian soil at W25 Traralgon in mid-November, and follows her run of four straight finals – in which she collected three titles – at W15 events in Monastir in July and August.

Nugroho hasn’t just been marking her mark in singles. Also a runner-up with Ekaterina Yashina in doubles this week in Solapur, the teenager has had an excellent year in the team format – winning seven doubles titles and reaching four further finals to bolster her WTA doubles ranking to No. 253.

In singles, Nugroho climbs to a career-high No. 391 and her win on Sunday marks the latest step along the ITF player pathway for a player who enjoyed a fine junior career – climbing as high as No. 9 in the ITF girls’ rankings and winning the 2020 Australian Open girls’ doubles title alongside Alexandra Eala.

There were also wins for German Silvia Ambrosio, Britain’s Katy Dunne (who won her second straight title at W15 Shark El Sheikh), 18-year-old Ukrainian Anastasiya Soboleva, and 17-year-old Vivian Yang, who delivered a home triumph at W15 Wellington in the first ITF tournament held in New Zealand since 2020.
