Sand Series Heads Back to Brasília With Stellar Matchups

The Sand Series Brasília Classic draw saw some loaded sections to play out as action gets underway later today as the Sand Series hits the halfway point in 2024. Mattia Spoto and Nicolas Gianotti  face a tough opener against Gabriele Gini and Gustavo Russo with former World Number Ones Luca Cramarossa and Marco Garavini in the same quarter of the draw. The Italian duo face off against Vini Font (also a former World Number One) and Miguel Peres.

One of the most intriguing second round potential ties sees Luca Andreolini and Felipe Loch., one of the most inform newcomers of the season face Giovanni Cariani and Daniel Mola, who will be riding high on confidence after taking out Gianotti and Spoto last week at the BT400 Tucuruí . Nikita Burmakin and Tommaso Giovannini also face a tough opener against Ramon Guedez and Nata Porte but will keen to make amends when they went up an 8-2 lead in a match tiebreak in the final plus a match point at 10-9, only to fall to Gianotti and Spoto, in a partnership that has lasted ever since that first edition. Andre Baran will look to defend his Brasília Classic title and will fancy his chances as he continues his partnership with Michele Cappelletti, which has yielded four titles so far this year including two of this year’s three Sand Series in Ribeirão Preto and the Gran Canaria Classic. The pair open against Diogo Carneiro and Marcelo Reck.

Flaminia Daina and Nicole Nobile were dealt a tough draw, landing in the same quarter as fifth seeds Giulia Gasparri and Ninny Valentini. The four Italians have faced off at two of the three Sand Series finals this year, splitting those between them. Daina and Nobile were triumphant at in Ribeirão Preto before Gasparri and Valentini captured their first title together in over a year at the Réunion Classic.

Things don’t get any easier for whoever comes up of the bottom quarter, as they may await a semi-final duel with home favourites Sophia Chow  and Vitoria Marchezini likely to be roared on by a partisan crowd as they look to capture their second Sand Series on home soil after triumphing at the Sand Series Valinhos last year.

Live scoring will be available from the first round and live streaming will be available from the quarter-finals with more information available on the tournament page at ITFTennis.com.
