The race for an Olympic place: Spotlight on Team USA
With just over a month to go until the ranking cut-off date for the Olympic Tennis Event, the race for a place at Paris 2024 is beginning to heat up.
Each week we'll spotlight those players in the running - and those who still have work to do on their ranking to earn a place in their national team - for the event at Roland Garros.
Each nation can qualify up to four athletes into each of the men's and women's singles events.
First up it's Team USA, who have strength-in-depth throughout a squad likely to be led by Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula on the women's side, and Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul on the men's side (given Ben Shelton's decision to miss the event and focus instead on the US hard court swing).
Who fills those third and fourth singles spots for both the men and women remain firmly up for grabs, with plenty of points on offer in the coming weeks on a surface not traditionally favourable to big-hitting Americans.
