Tokyo to host ITF Masters 45+ World Championships in November 2024
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has announced that Tokyo, Japan will host the ITF Masters 45+ World Team and Individual Championships on 17-30 November 2024.
The events will take place on outdoor hard courts at the Ariake Tennis Centre in Tokyo, which also hosts the Japan Open on the ATP Tour, the Pan Pacific Open on the WTA Tour and was the venue for the tennis events at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It will mark the first time that an ITF Masters World Championships is held in Asia.
The 2024 ITF Masters Tour World Championships will take place in four locations around the world, with Mexico, Portugal and Türkiye also set to host events next year. Full details of all events are provided in the table below.
As part of the ITF Masters Tour’s renewed strategy for 2023-2026, the World Tennis Masters Tour is prioritising tournaments and player growth in Asia, home to 37% of the global tennis population according to the ITF’s Global Tennis Report (2021).
Introducing the World Championships in Asia aligns with the ITF’s goal to boost participation, and tournament opportunities for players across the region. The ITF World Tennis Masters Tour reached a milestone in 2023 with 552 tournaments, including the historic participation of 100-year-old player, Henry Young, in the World Championships for the first time, after competing at the 2023 ITF Masters World Individual Championships in Mallorca.
