Tournament heats up at Day 2 of the ITF Sand Series Tour Finals
Day two of the ITF Sand Series Tour Finals brought thrilling twists, with the competition intensifying across both the men’s and women’s events.
The men’s Saarlouis group experienced unpredictable turns as Burmakin and Andreolini, who stunned the court with their Day 1 victory over second seeds, Baan and Cappelletti, faltered against Ramos and Loch 6-4,7-6. Ramos and Loch’s win kept them in contention for a semi-final spot.
Meanwhile, Baran and Cappelletti bounced back to decisively defeat Oliveira and Branco 6-0, 7-5. All teams in the Saarlouis group now sit with one win and one loss, setting up for high stake matches today to determine the semi-finalists.
Gianotti and Spoto became the first men’s pair to secure a semi-final win after defeating Guegano and Russo 6-2, 6-3 in the Brasilia group. Cariani and Mola also booked their semi-final sport with a win in their second group match. The two unbeaten pairs will face off today on Court 1 to decide the top-ranked team in the group.
In the women’s competition, tensions mounted for the Reunion Island group as sixth-seeded Cimatti and Giusti triumphed over top seeds Diaz and Miiller, winning 6-4, 7-6 (8). This victory came despite Diaz and Miiller saving two match points during a dramatic second-set tiebreak. Cimatti and Giusti now face Palos and Lotte, with a semi-final spot on the line, while Diaz and Miiller must regroup for a decisive match against second seeds Gasparri and Valentini.

On Centre Court, the Gran Canaria group delivered high drama as its top-seeded teams faced off. Casadei and Costa stunned spectators with the day’s second major upset, claiming a hard-fought three-set victory over Chow and Marchezini, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Meanwhile, Nobile and Daina appeared to be closing in on their first tournament win when an unfortunate injury forced Vita to withdraw from the tournament, handing Nobile and Daina a victory via walkover. With Vita and Silva now out of contention, Casadei and Costa automatically secure their place as the first female pair through to the semi-finals. Nobile and Daina will meet Chow and Marchezini on Centre Court today in a decisive clash for the group’s final semi-final spot.
With high stakes and tight competition, day three promises decisive matches as players battle for their places in the knockout rounds.
