Overview

Sixteen teams representing ten countries competed at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Asian Qualification, which was held in Thailand for the first time since regional qualification for the ITF's flagship wheelchair tennis team event was introudced in 2012.

Among the countries represented were Chile and Ecuador, who lined up against teams from Chinese Taipei, Korea Republic and Thailand in the first of this year's two combined regional qualification competitions for the quad event.

The second and final quad qualification competition will take place at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup European Qualification in Turkey on 22-26 March.

WINNERS

Sri Lanka beat Thailand in the men's final, while China P.R. defeated Thailand in the women's final. With host nation Thailand reaching the men's, women's and quad finals, Thailand won the quad event, beating Chile.

The winners of the men's, women's and quad events all qualify for the 2023 BNP Paribas World Team Cup World Group, which takes place in Vilamoura, Portugal on 1-7 May.

FORMAT

Men (Asia/Oceania)

One round-robin pool of three teams and one round-robin pool of four teams with the winner from each pool going forward to the final and the remaining teams going forward to play-offs to decide final positions.

Women (Asia/Oceania) 

One round-robin pool of four teams who played each other with the winner qualifying for the BNP Paribas World Team Cup World Group in Portugal in May.

Quad (Asia/Oceania/Americas)

One round-robin pool of three teams and one round-robin pool of two teams with the winner from each pool going forward to the final and the remaining teams going forward to play-offs to decide final positions.
