The Melbourne Open has Super Series status on the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour for the first time in 2022, making it one of the top tier of standalone wheelchair tournaments outside of the Grand Slams. It is also the last wheelchair tournament in Australia before the Australian Open Grand Slam.
