The imperious Diede De Groot made history at the 2022 US Open Wheelchair Championships in New York, defeating Yui Kamiji in the final to win the calendar Grand Slam a year after becoming the first wheelchair singles player to achieve the 'Golden Slam' - all four majors and Paralympic gold.
Shingo Kunieda had looked set to become the first man to achieve the Wheelchair singles calendar Grand Slam in the men's final, only for Alfie Hewett to win his sixth Grand Slam wheelchair singles title.
There was also a landmark triumph in the men's doubles for Spaniard Martin de la Puente, who won his maiden Grand Slam crown alongside Nicolas Peifer, on just his second appearance at a major tournament.
