Exciting times ahead for players and fans in this part of the region, as the inaugural W40 ITF Women's World Tennis Tour (WTT) event will be held at the iconic Victoria Park Tennis Stadium in Hong Kong. What's more, together with the previous week's W25 Hong Kong, they signify the staging of ITF Women's WTT events in town for the first time since January 2020!
These events are instrumental in creating a pathway between the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors and the elite levels of professional tennis. Grand Slam champions such as Li Na, Naomi Osaka, and Iga Swiatek have all made use of ITF Women's WTT events to springboard their games to newer heights.
Since 2014, the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open has put the city back on the WTA map for the first time in over two decades. One of the target outcomes was to raise the commercial appeal of the women's game to inspire more young girls in the local community to commit to the sport long-term. ITF Women's WTT events can provide the necessary competitive opportunities for players to work towards their dreams to go on and achieve success in the professional game.
